The 93rd House District was moved to the southern part of Fayette County during the 2022 legislative redistricting. The first Lexington resident elected to the position of State Representative in the new district was Representative Lamin Swann. Adrielle Camuel became the new State Representative on November 7, 2023 .
Unfortunately, Representative Swann suddenly passed away in May 2023 after suffering a medical emergency. His death triggered the need for a Special Election to fill his seat.
From a pool of four applicants, the House District 93 Nominating Committee selected Adrielle Camuel as the candidate for the Special Election. She was elected in November 2023 to fulfill the remainder of Representative Swann's term and then re-elected in May 2024 Primary Election as the Democratic candidate.
With no partisan opponent in the 2024 General Election, Adrielle remains the State Representative for the district.
Representative Swann was raised in Lexington and lived a life driven by service to the community. He valued hard work and doing right by Kentuckians, and he represented those values each and every day he worked as a legislator.
His grace, vitality, and commitment to others will be missed, but his legacy will continue to live on within the Fayette County Democratic Party, his fellow legislators, and the community he served.
